We are a group of citizens of Siskiyou County, California, who are concerned about the potential closing of our library system within the next six months.
If you live in this county, please join us. We need all types of volunteers; we will have a variety of chores to do in the next six months to accomplish our task!

May 26, 2010, in the Medford Mail-tribune news, an article revealed that Brian McDermott would present a suggested budget to the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors that listed the proposed budget for the library system as $0. Yes, that says zero dollars. Later articles in the Ashland and Siskiyou newspapers reaffirmed this. Mr. McDermott did so at the Board of Supervisors meeting on June 1, 2010. A number of concerned constituents appeared at that meeting. That afternoon there was a public meeting to discuss what could be done to keep the libraries in Siskiyou County open.
There will be a peaceful picketing of the June 8th BOS meeting in front of the Siskiyou County Courthouse starting at 8:30 A.M. Everyone interested is invited to join us. We are also planning to ask for signatures on a petition in front of Walmart in Yreka the weekend of June 12th, and also at a public place (to be announced) in south county. You are invited to join in these activities as well.
